This is a two day course set at advanced level.

It looks in depth at the different types of trusts and their uses. We will look at practical case studies, decide which is the most appropriate solution and look at the different tax treatments in respect of each solution

1. Formalities of a trust, an explanation of the role of trustee and beneficiary and trustees duties

2. An explanation of the different types of lifetime trust together with sample precedents

3. An examination of trusts set up on death or via Deed of Variation and setting them up

4. An explanation of the different tax treatment for different types of trusts, accounting and trust tax returns

5. A substantial part of the course will examine the practical uses of the various types of trust together with practical case studies, solution driven taking into account the the tax consequences of the solution

6. How to run a trust once it is set up

9 Where trusts go wrong. Challenges to trust and grounds for setting aside
