Post-Death Variations

This CPD update explores how an instrument or deed of variation can be used as an effective post-death estate planning tool. It provides practical knowledge for will writers to advise clients on redistributing an estate after death to better meet family needs or mitigate tax. Throughout this paper the term ‘deed of variation’ will be used to refer to both deeds of variation and instruments of variations.
